A quick note to say things are going strong at Mill Pond Music Studio! So far this year another Laurel Martin CD, another Chris George project, The Lion Sisters’ latest collection, 2 full length audio books, songs for ex-Warner Bros. Nashville producer Richard Helm. Local songwriters Josh Collins, Dick Gsottscheneider, Lee Biddle, Kathy and Keith Sheehan, Bob Moore and more have been warming up the microphones. Concord’s stellar country singer Lynda Nelson with more hybrid Nashville/Portsmouth music, as with Steve Carrigan for whom I produced tracks in Nashville with the ‘A’ team. We’ll finish vocals and mix up here.
All this barely leaves me enough time to indulge my latest guitar tuning love, Double-Drop-D (1st and 6th strings down a whole step). I recently displayed my retrospective of 60s folk classics, which I’ve arranged as I might have in my Nashville session days, at Newmarket’s legendary Stone Church Music Club. And I’m still holding forth there almost every Sunday at 4pm with Irish (and Irish-adjacent) songs and tunes.
